How big is the gap in perspective that sits between people and does this create opportunities for personal growth, learning, creativity, innovation and team performance when fully explored?
- In teams and when working with colleagues, are you encouraged to debate, disagree and share ideas?
- Are you keen to share what you think or does it feel safer to keep quiet?
- When challenged on your ideas and views, how do you react? Threat or opportunity?
- How fixed or open are you to others views and opinions?
- How deep is the conviction in your beliefs, approach and opinions?

Personal perspective is one of the reasons why teams trump individuals when working on complex performance problems. When practitioner ego is low, there are high levels of curiosity in the group and the team is given time, space and psychological safety in a great climate, the opportunities to develop shared mental models, more insight and multiple perspectives, surely greatly increase the choice of performance solutions that are available Do you ever take the time to really consider where others are coming from and why? Take a moment to explore the perspective continuum and move into a space where you can share ideas, learn and increase understanding.
